Abstract
The historical relations of Aceh with Riau and the Malay world: collective memory of the expansion of Sultan Iskandar Muda, the role of Pasai in the Islamisation of Melaka, the Malay–Portuguese alliance against Aceh, the traces of figures such as Syeikh Nuruddin ar-Raniry, the composition of Malay society and political structure, and Aceh's relations with Perak and Penang, complemented by field photographs.
