Abstract

A presentation, jointly with Prof. Dr. Rusjdi Ali Muhammad, for the Aceh Office of Islamic Sharia (Dinas Syariat Islam Aceh) on the journey of Islamic sharia in Aceh: the constitutional basis of Aceh's special status and the UUPA (Law on the Governing of Aceh), the qanun (regional regulations) that are needed, the historical trail from the queens of Aceh to Abdurrauf as-Singkili, and Acehnese cultural concepts such as turi (self-knowledge), haba peuingat (words of reminder), and the philosophy of balance as foundations for the implementation of sharia.
