THE PLANETARY MIND: Al Gore's Global Mind, Kishore Mahbubani's One World, and the Architecture of the Coming Civilization

Abstract

What happens when humanity begins to think beyond nations, borders, and old civilizational divisions? The Planetary Mind: Al Gore’s Global Mind, Kishore Mahbubani’s One World, and the Architecture of the Coming Civilization explores one of the most important questions of the twenty-first century: how humanity can understand itself in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, global interdependence, and shifting centers of power.Drawing inspiration from Al Gore’s concept of the Global Mind and Kishore Mahbubani’s vision of One World, Kamaruzzaman Bustamam Ahmad develops a broader reflection on the emergence of a planetary consciousness — a new way of seeing humanity as an interconnected civilization. This book examines the transformation of knowledge, technology, politics, and culture in a world where artificial intelligence accelerates human cooperation while challenging traditional ideas of identity, sovereignty, and progress.Rather than predicting a utopian future, The Planetary Mind invites readers to critically explore the architecture of the coming civilization:How will artificial intelligence reshape human understanding? Can humanity move beyond fragmented worldviews? What kind of global imagination is needed for the next stage of civilization?Written from an interdisciplinary perspective combining civilization studies, global affairs, technology, and philosophy, this book offers a thoughtful contribution to debates on humanity’s future in the planetary era.For readers interested in the future of civilization, artificial intelligence, global transformation, and the changing world order.
