FROM GNOSIOLOGY TO WAḤDAT AL-SHUHŪD: The Anthropology of Mystical Knowing in Islam

Abstract

What if the deepest knowledge is not something you learn—but Someone you meet? Some books explain the mystical path. This one is written from within it. In From Gnosiology to Waḥdat al-Shuhūd, Kamaruzzaman Bustamam Ahmad—anthropologist and lifelong student of the Sufi tradition—takes up the oldest question of the spiritual life: can the knowledge of God (maʿrifah) truly be called knowledge?
