Penghujung Kehidupan [The End of Life]
1999
Abstract
A work by Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang, a scholar and figure of the Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS, Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party) who later became Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Terengganu (1999–2004) and President of PAS from 2002, on the end of the human journey of life. Drawing on the Qur'an, hadith, and the heritage of the ulama, this Malay-language book explains the reality of death, sakaratul maut (the throes of death), the barzakh (intermediate realm) and the punishment of the grave, the signs of the Day of Judgement, resurrection, the mahsyar (gathering), the hisab (reckoning), the mizan (scales), the sirat (bridge), and the recompense of paradise and hell. Its aim is to encourage readers to prepare provisions for the hereafter through faith, righteous deeds, repentance, and purification of the soul, while affirming that awareness of the hereafter is the foundation of a Muslim's morals and life struggle. The title on the cover is also written in Jawi script, reflecting the tradition of Malay religious writing.
