Bandar Publishing, Banda Aceh · 2020
Abstract
An anthology by sixteen Acehnese writers, academics, journalists, and activists, who read the condition of Aceh in 2020, fifteen years after the Helsinki peace agreement and as part of the special autonomy funds approached their end. The contributors, among them Kamaruzzaman Bustamam Ahmad, Affan Ramli, Fuad Mardhatillah UY Tiba, Juanda Djamal, M. Adli Abdullah, Muhajir Al Fairusi, Sehat Ihsan Shadiqin, and Sulaiman Tripa, discuss social, political, and development discourse: the performance of post-conflict government, local politics and local parties, the management of the special autonomy (otsus) funds, the implementation of Islamic sharia, education, the people's economy, the environment, culture, and the role of civil society and intellectuals. The cover illustration of assorted pairs of spectacles symbolises the diversity of perspectives on Aceh. The book records the anxieties and ideas of Aceh's educated class about the future direction of their region.
