Abstract
The March/April 2017 issue appeared in the early weeks of Donald Trump's first administration. The "Trump Time" package weighs the direction of the new policy from various angles: Walter Russell Mead on the "Jacksonian revolt" that brought Trump to power, John Paulson on the economy, and a series of essays on Trump's relations with Russia, China, terrorism, Israel-Palestine, North Korea, and the world order. The additional cover headline refers to Tom Nichols's essay on the American public's loss of trust in experts. The issue also contains pieces by Jennifer Lind on Japan as another revisionist power in Asia and by Ian Johnson on the religious revival in China. This material is useful for tracing the expectations and anxieties of analysts at the beginning of the Trump era.
