Abstract

The October 2001 (Rejab-Syaaban 1422) issue of the Islamic magazine Tamadun, with the cover report "Perang Salib Berulang?" ("A Repeat of the Crusades?") following the 11 September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, illustrated with the burning twin towers and Osama bin Laden. This issue also contains a special interview with Dr. Harun Din. The archive contains the cover; the opening page of the main report "Perang Salib Berulang?", consisting of a portrait of Osama bin Laden with the caption "dianggap ketua penganas oleh Amerika, tetapi ramai pula yang menganggapnya wira" ("regarded by America as a terrorist leader, yet many also regard him as a hero"); and "Barat Sendiri Tolak Serangan Balas Dendam" ("The West Itself Rejects Revenge Attacks", pp. 22–23), a compilation of statements by Western figures opposing US retaliatory strikes, among them Noam Chomsky, Norman Solomon, Uri Avnery, Jeff Cohen, Barbara Lee, Matthew Engel, Seumas Milne, Robert Fisk, and Joel Rogers.
